WingX Pro7 - Fixing iOS 8.3 (Dual XGPS150, XGPS160 and Bad Elf products)
April 22, 2015 (Updated June 5, 2015)

The Problem

Apple's iOS 8.3 broke compatibility with the Dual XGPS150, XGPS160, and Bad Elf GPS receivers (and other external GPS receivers); i.e. apps no longer receive GPS Core Location information. This bug in iOS 8.3 does not affect ADS-B receivers with a WiFi or Bluetooth connection.

The Fix

Good news.  We have found a simple fix. Dual has confirmed that this fix works for the XGPS150 and XGPS160.

The steps:

How do I know the fix is working?

You will be receiving good GPS information in WingX Pro7.  In addition, WingX Pro7 will notify you that it is receiving its location information from the external GPS receiver in the bottom-left corner of the moving map.

What should I do when Apple release a fix for iOS 8.3?

Install the new iOS version and ensure that Location Services is On and WingX Pro7 within Location Services is set to Always.
